“The NMC Tea Industry is one of the five businesses operated by the Nepal Multipurpose Cooperative (NMC-COOP). Established in 2076 BS, the NMC Tea Industry is wholly owned and managed by NMC-COOP. It operates three factories in Ilam and one packaging unit in the Jhapa district. The head office of the NMC Tea Industry is in Surendranagar, Mechinagar-5, Jhapa. The industry collects green leaves from its member farmers and produces green tea, orthodox tea, and other flavoured teas. Although not directly involved in tea farming, the NMC Tea Industry actively encourages farmers to cultivate high-quality green leaves, provides education and training, and supports farmers financially through its own NMC Saving and Credit Business.”
